Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at NorthPointe Resources! Program participants love meeting new people and especially appreciate our volunteers. There are many different ways to share your time and talent, such as:

  • Work with a group on a fun activity like games, fitness, dancing, gardening or crafts.
  • Music or Art Projects – Share your talent (or passion) and teach a class for clients.
  • Holiday Parties – Assist with planning, decorating, set-up, clean-up, etc.
  • Event support – Help with event planning, silent auction solicitations, set-up, etc.
  • Administration support – General office assistance as well as Development support (research, gather data, assist with mailings, data entry) and Marketing support (print and web design, copy writing, etc. )
  • Facilities – Assist with a variety of maintenance, repairs and beautification — if you can help, we need you!

These are only a few of the volunteer opportunities. Do you have something else in mind or do you have a talent you’d like to share? Let us know!

Volunteers receive:

  • Special awards based on hours of service
  • Invitations to celebratory events that recognize volunteers
  • Wonderful feelings of contribution and service

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Days and times are very flexible and the work may be done in our office or remotely. The volunteer can choose to do all or some of the projects, but we ask that the chosen project be worked through completion.

  • Seek and provide information to help determine our position in the marketplace.
  • Gather data on competitors and analyze their services and method of marketing and distribution.
  • Collect and analyze data on customer demographics, preferences and needs to identify potential markets and factors affecting service demand
  • Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text.
  • Develop marketing measures/baseline
  • Develop marketing channels/measure impact

We are fortunate to receive lots of donated items. As the items come in, the clothes need to be sorted by size and hung up. The other small items need to be organized and shelved. Currently the storage area is full and it will take 5 – 8 hours to get it in good shape. After that, 1 – 2 hours per week should take care of it. Part of this volunteer opportunity means taking the items that we cannot use to another charitable organization (one happens to be next door to us). We can provide a cart and possibly some assistance. Must be able to bend, stretch and lift about 40 pounds.

Because of the population of people with whom we work (adults with developmental disabilities), you will be asked to complete an application, pass required background checks, sign a confidentiality agreement and attend a 15 minute training session. You will be under the supervision of a NorthPointe Resources staff person at all times.

Days and times are very flexible but we ask you to commit to a minimum of 8 weeks.

All of the following opportunities take place at NorthPointe Resources’ Killian Center between the hours of 9am and 2pm, Monday through Friday. We are flexible and can work with your schedule as long as it falls within these parameters.

  •      Gardening
  1. Teach indoor classes in fall/winter
  2. Teach outdoor classes in spring/summer
  3. Plan and teach gardening as a potential source of income
  4. Train people to use our hydroponics system
  • Business Plan Development

Some of our program participants want to become self employed with their own microenterprise. In order to get started they need to know the market and if it can support their product or service. The volunteer will:

  • Research and prepare market analysis
  • Help the potential business owner develop a business plan
  • Educate the potential business owner on business laws
  • Help the potential business owner develop a marketing plan
  • Help Program Participants Prepare for Employment
  • Practice interview skills
  • Teach about employers expectations
  • Offer job shadowing experiences
  • Health and Wellness – Multiple Opportunities
  • Can you teach an exercise class (ex. Yoga, aerobics, etc.)
  • Are you a dietician who can teach healthy meal planning and preparation
  • Are you an amateur or professional chef or someone who likes to cook who could teach program and group home staff to prepare healthy meals
  • Are you experienced in theater? We are looking for a theater director or actor to help prepare for and direct productions for Smile Mark Players theatre group

Please know that volunteers at NorthPointe Resources are required to pass background checks and drug screening.  Volunteers for this opportunity will receive extensive training.
