As thanks for featuring NorthPointe’s micro-enterprise programs in an April “Making A Difference” segment, NorthPointe Development Manager Cheryl Dunlap presented NBC 5 Chicago with an original painting July 18th at NBC Studios. The artwork, created by NorthPointe’s Art360 program participant Harold B., was inspired by the NBC logo, emulating its color and design.
Harold is one of many artists participating in NorthPointe’s newly launched micro-enterprise ART360 initiative. NorthPointe’s micro-enterprise programs offer individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental illness the opportunity to start their own micro-businesses through the creation and sale of art, jewelry, and hydroponically-grown greens.
NBC’s Making A Difference Community Action Board aims to feature events and stories of people and organizations committed to making a difference in their communities across the state of Illinois. Ms. Dunlap was recently made a member of the NBC MADCAB Member representing Lake County, and was thrilled to be able to present the gift at July’s board meeting. “I’m so honored to be part of this board serving so many great causes,” said Dunlap.
“We appreciate NBC featuring NorthPointe,” stated Dina Donohue-Chase, “and look forward to seeing the impact they will have on other organizations as we work together to make better lives for other community members.”
