REPORTS TO: Program Services Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: Provides vocational training for adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans and implements structured, age appropriate activities during non-work periods based upon the interest and needs of the individuals in the group.
2. Records all pertinent data related to each individual outlined in specials meetings or as developed per the interdisciplinary HAB Team.
3. Assist individuals with developing appropriate and acceptable work and social behaviors, work skills, and document and report any problems to the QSP.
4. Communicates any production related issues to assigned Outsourcing Manager/Supervisor. Assist in the development of solutions to issues.
5. Trains workers in performing contract/subcontract work, and in the development and implementation of job adaptation techniques as needed.
6. Educate, promote and provide support to individuals in making healthy lifestyle choices, as referenced in the DSP health and safety and health and nutrition training curriculums and/or service plans.
7. Identify and utilize effective advocacy strategies to overcome the diverse challenges facing individuals, i.e., human rights, legal, administrative and financial.
8. Actively participates in ISP meetings for each individual, reporting on the worker’s job performance and participation in programming.
9. Plan for and accompany worker(s) on community outings.
8. Completes all paperwork accurately and within designated timeframes.
9. Assure safety/security of workers under his/her supervision. Maintains a clean, organized and safe program area.
10. Participates as assigned on bus transportation, break and checkout duties.
11. Ensures that DSP, CPR, CPI, First Aide and any other required trainings are completed and remain up to date.
12. The employee may be asked to perform other duties as required by the employer’s business needs.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Covers for the Program Services Personal Assistant as needed. (See job description).
2. Keeps abreast of developments in the field by attending seminars, trainings, etc.
3. Covers for other Outsourcing Program Services Supervisors during absences as needed.
4. Attend in-services and agency training as required.
PHYSICAL & VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
2. Ability to see accurately both near and far
3. Ability to walk, bend, twist, kneel, and stoop
4. Ability to accurately manipulate small objects accurately using fine motor skills
5. Ability to drive to various locations as needed, adapting to various weather conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent required
2. Valid and acceptable driving record
3. Meet requirements of Basic Skills Surveys (TABE) Reading and Math
4. Experience in a vocational rehabilitation setting preferred
5. Experience working with people who have developmental disabilities preferred
6. Knowledge of basic computer usage preferred
